Formal Recruitment is the period of time in which Fraternities on this campus recruit new members. Formal recruitment lasts for 12 days and takes place at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters.

Greek 101:  This event will take place right before recruitment begins and is open to the public. Every fraternity and  sorority will have a table set up and will showcase their chapter to all potential new members. They will be able to answer any questions about their chapter and the recruitment process.

Formal Recruitment:  Every Chapter will host several events throughout the formal recruiment period. These events will be published in the Collegiate Times and on this website.  None of the events are mandatory and you may attend as many or as few events as you like.

Closed Recruitment:  During the last weekend of the formal recruitment period, each chapter will hold one closed   recruitment event. Recruits may only attend events to which they are specificially invited to. These events will be more formal and will allow potential new members to learn as much about each chapter as possible. This is also the last chance for chapters to decide which men they would like to give a bid to. Some chapters may even hold interviews to get to know each man better.

Bid Handout:  On the Monday following formal recruitment, each chapter will distribute their bids to men who they    would want to become members of their chapter. Men can receive multiple bids from any chapter. This if followed by 48 hours of silence in which you have to make your decision.

Bid Acceptance: Two days following bid handout is bid acceptance, the day when you inform whichever fraternity you choose that you intend to join their chapter. This ends the formal recruitment process of each semester.

                                                     365 Recruitment

The Interfraternity Council encourages each chapter to practice 365 Recruitment, which is the year-round process of selecting new members. Chapters can extend a bid to someone at any point throughout the year.
